Thank you for your continued support as we serve our community!

Brief Instructions:

  1. Kit contents provided by the guild:
  2. Fabric (1.5 yds)
  3. Batting (45”x50”); additional batting is available if you are making a larger quilt
  4. Backing (1.5 yds)
  5. Label (Donated by HSV Quilt Guild)
  • You can use any pattern you desire or choose from samples we have posted on the website.  You are welcome to use your own fabric, or to add to the fabric in the kit. No need to return any leftover fabric.
  • The kit will make a quilt approximately 38” X 48”. This eliminates the need to piece the backing. However, we also provide quilts for adults so larger lap-size quilts are welcome.
  • A list of quilters who will do the quilting and binding is included on the Charity Quilt page of our website.  However, we suggest you try to quilt yourself. It does not have to be fancy. Straight lines are fine.
  • If you need to get someone to longarm your quilt, please keep the following in mind:
  • Quilt back should be a minimum of 4” larger than the quilt top on all sides.
  • Please don’t pin or spray baste prior to giving it to the one doing the longarm quilting.
  • Please give all 3 pieces at once (quilt top, batting, backing) to the person doing the longarm quilting.
  • Please coordinate for the quilt to be returned to you for finishing.
  • Binding – please sew the binding down with your machine. The quilts are washed regularly. If the binding is hand stitched, it is less sturdy.
  • Labels:  Please remove paper backing and machine stitch the label to the bottom corner on the back of the quilt.
  • Turn-in completed quilt to committee for donation to charities😊
